Brown Vetoes SB 25

     On Sunday September 28th, California Gov. Jerry Brown vetoed union-backed Senate Bill 25, which would have allowed state labor authorities to force union contracts on farm workers through mandatory mediation.

     While the Governor’s veto was a victory for workers’ rights statewide, thousands at Fresno-based Gerawan Farming are still being railroaded into the United Farm Workers (FW) against their will.

Gerawan workers held a decertification election last November, but the California Agricultural Labor Relations Board (ALRB) is refusing to count the votes in a flagrant attempt to help the UFW divert three percent of the workers’ pay into the union coffers.

     If the Governor believes, as he said in a veto message Sunday night, that labor election disputes “should be dealt with so the process is balanced and fair,” he will call upon the ALRB to count the votes of the Gerawan workers to secure their Constitutionally protected freedoms of speech and assembly.

     The workers, led by Silvia Lopez, a single mother and long-time Gerawan employee, will plea for Brown’s help in their fight against forced unionization at a press conference outside an ALRB hearing on Wednesday, October 1, at 10:00 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Radisson Hotel (formerly Holiday Inn), 1055 Van Ness Avenue Fresno, California.

To coincide with the ALRB hearings and the workers’ press conference, the Center for Worker Freedom (CWF) is launching a new series of billboards in Sacramento this week.  One is addressed to the UFW and reads “Hey UFW:  No means NO!”  Another reads “CA farm workers said NO to the UFW: Can Governor Brown?”

Taking Back California: Introduction

     Cronyism. Define the California Republican Party in one word and that is the word to use. While the democrats in Sacramento gained a super majority over both houses and passed wave after wave of ridiculous liberal legislation that no one could stop, the CRP became complacent, turned inward, and fell asleep. The party became a social club, a way to live the high life off of donors that didn't care for those "divisive" social issues. Instead of fighting for the people, the GOP took to running worthless campaigns in an effort to merely get delegates to go to convention to support lobbyists with thick wallets.

     In the meantime, California is burning, and not just because of forest fires. CA became a byword of many. "We won't let them Californianize my state!" some shouted. The state increased in debt, and is suffering through one of the worst droughts in its history made worse by government regulations and enviro-loving hippies. A place were normal and natural became unnatural. A place were natural differences were defined as hate and bigotry, and were saying, "killing a child because you didn't like that Johnny turned out to be a Suzy is wrong," earns you the title of racist. So many families and businesses started to leave the once great state of California. From her valleys to her mountains, to her missions and her fountains, the Great Californian Exodus had begun.

     Yet quietly a revolution was being born. While the Democrats enjoyed their power, and the Republicans became content with the scraps, a small group in the Republican Party, united in the cause of freedom, began a effort that would shake the state to its very core. This is their story. Their story as I watch it play out before my eyes. For the story has only just begun and where it will end we are not sure. But I want to write it all out here, whether we win or lose.

Gerawan Farmworkers Ask Gov Brown Veto SB 25

It has begun. Farm workers, a group whose demographic has largely been Hispanic, has been a strong supporter of the Democrat Party for years. Largely due to the efforts of Cesar Chavez. This group has been a huge supporter of unions and democrats, believing that their right to work, their right to freedom and liberty, was fought for and defended by the democrat party. Some of these workers fled from tyrannical governments in central and south America in an effort to find freedom in the land of opportunity. But now, things are changing. On a farm in Central California, farm workers have been happily employed. Everything seemed wonderful. Until they were contacted by the United Farm Workers union. The UFW, happening to be a little short on cash, decided to unionize the Gerawan farm workers. Taking 3% of the workers pay as dues. Realizing that the union could not offer them anything more then what the workers were already receiving. The farm workers said no. But the UFW won't take no for an answer. 

The farm workers then organized themselves to fight against the union. They collected signatures and sent the to the Agriculture Labor Relations Board, asking to  stop the union. the ALRB rejected them. More signatures were gathered again the ALRB rejected them. Finally a court case was filed, and what has happened next is best described in a letter the workers sent to Governor Jerry Brown.

"There were several hundred of us outside the courthouse in Fresno protesting while inside the ALRB told the judge they wanted to "impose" a contract on us that we do not want, were not allowed to negotiate, and will never be allowed to vote on. Fortunately, the judge protected us and told the ALRB that he would not force a contract on us, and that we want our votes counted instead. If you sign SB 25, a judge won't be able to protect us from ALRB anymore. 

As you know, we have a history of earning the industry's highest wages, but then suddenly the UFW came back after being gone for 20 years and they want to force their union on us. ALRB said they would protect us, but instead they side with the union against us. The board you appointed allowed a contract to be written that will force us to pay 3% to the union or be fired. It will also prohibit us from going on strike to protest ALRB and UFW, which we have done many times. It's hard to believe that you and ALRB would do this to us without letting us vote."

The farm workers need our help. Please call Governor Brown today at (916) 445-2841 and ask him to stand for liberty and not with the unions who are trying to take away Constitutional liberties to benefit themselves.

Restoring America: One State at a Time

Life's funny in some ways. You have ideas or dreams only to have them change... Refocus. I used to tell friends my dream was to become an attorney that practiced in the DC area, and live on some land in VA. I wanted to leave California, felt it was a hopeless case and join the increasing number of Californian citizens and business that are jumping ship. The fight against excessive government looked over for CA. But looks can be deceiving.

Then I attended the California Republican Party convention in Los Angeles. This being my first convention I didn't know what to expect and honestly it wasn't much. Millionaires and Politicians with big egos swarmed the place. But something stood out here, a small group. A shining light of individuals who had a purpose. A vision. A group ready to take on the status quo, and take back California. Now these weren't pie in the sky dreamers, but men and women of action, the vision wasn't some far off hope but an attainable reality. And right under the noses of the Republican establishment contented with mediocrity, I watched a plan being implemented, and begin to gain momentum. A plan that I was honored to discover I was playing a part in.


The scriptures say "A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps." After seeing what I've seen I don't want to leave anymore. I have a chance to help change California, take it back. Leaving now is no longer an option.

Marriage in America

There has been a lot of discussion about marriage lately. Turn on the television and you'll be bombarded by some message or other promoting someone's opinion on the definition of marriage, whether it's the commercial that throws in a gay couple along with other families, or the tv series where the single parent is trying to mange the home. Go over to the Christian homeschoolers circle and another debate about marriage is raging, that is, whether young people should court or date before marriage. Each one pointing the finger at the other blaming them for all the problems that marriages face.

Though I personally agree with the courtship model, I'm not hear to add my voice to the debate, and spew out all the evils of dating. Frankly I see something wrong with marriage in America and I think it is much more than whether Christians should date or court, and it bothers me that Christians don't seem to care. 40 to 50 percent of marriages in the US end in divorce according to the American Psychological Association. There has become a growing lack of care towards marriage. People are cohabiting (read fornicating) rather than getting married and if they due marry it will probably only last 8 years according to some experts. Why is this? Why are the divorce rates so high? Even among Christian circles? The answer? A lower moral standard. Let me give you a little history lesson to tell you what I mean.

Bohemians

The Bohemians were artists. Artists that held to the beliefs of that 18th century philosopher Rousseau. They believed whatever made them feel good was right. Morality was redefined by them, They rejected Christianity and its moral standard, in its stead, they raised a new one They become their own gods, self-affluence was their doctrine. And their morality was defined by the feelings of their own hearts. During the time that these Bohemians lived they were in a small circle of painters, sculpters, poets, and authors. Pushed away from a society that mostly held to the Christian standard of morality. The Bohemians were also predominately men. The women in these circles were the mistresses of these men. These women, however, didn't appreciate what they viewed as a one sided deal. They wanted to be just as "free" as their male conterparts, and thus the Feminist Movement was born.

Feminism

The Feminist Movement had a lot of key players, but they all wanted the same thing, the "freedom" to be as sexually promiscuous as the men. Now the women who felt this way were still a small

mojarity, women from the Bohemian artistic lifestyle. One woman in particular was Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood. Sanger was a woman who wanted "freedom" from the restraints of Christian morality. The mistress of men such as author H.G. Wells and sexual theorist Havelock Ellis, Sanger fought to promote "sexual liberation" for women. Meaning? The "right" for women to do what they want, when they want, with whomever they want.

The Radical Sixties and No-Fault Divorce

Sanger and others like her paved the way for the radical sixties. Where Bohemian culture, once the minority, became widely accepted by the hippie movement. These pleasure seekers threw out the moral standards of their parents because they held them back from seeking to desires of their own lusts. They began a conquest of narcotic and sexual experimentation. It is also not a coincidence that it was during this time that no-fault divorce was enacted. You no longer were required to stay married with your spouse. If you simply decided that you didn't "love" the person any more you could divorce. This struck at the very foundation of society. The family is the core of humanity. But no matter, the thought of being forced to remain faithful "till death do we part" was to much for these Bohemian pleasure seekers. It must go.

 Today

Fast forward to today, divorce rates have risen dramatically since the passage of no-fault divorce laws. Add to that the increasing rates of cohabitation and gay activism. What history has shown us is that the problem is a total rejection of God's moral standard. Society has become obsessed with fulfilling the lustful passion of its heart. The problem is a lack of moral character. This is what

Christians should be focusing on most. Christian's should be teaching God's moral standard, why? Because we are the ones who have it. The Bible tells us how we are to live our lives. We must do our duty to help raise up a generation that fully believes 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 

"For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God: That no man go beyond and defraud his brother inany matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit."

Young men and women should protect their hearts, follow God's word and not fall into the lie that the world has that you can do whatever you want as long as it doesn't hurt somebody else. This is not true! If you break God's moral standard you will get hurt! Do we get angry at the manufacturer of the toaster for saying we shouldn't put it in water? He is taking away my freedom to do what I want with my toaster after all! No! The manufacturer knows what is going to keep the toaster working and keep me alive. Similarly, It is only by building moral character, a belief system founded on God's bedrock principles that we can change this nation and heal the hurts, because God is the manufacturer of our bodies and knows what is best for us.
